June 8: Peace, Love, Cure Glow Golf. 5-10 p.m., Great Life Golf & Fitness, 16744 MO-64. Money raised will profit the Brighten the Journey Fund at Curry Cancer Center benefiting cancer patients. Shotgun start at 5 p.m. Each team plays nine holes then enjoys dinner provided by Sandbaggers Bar & Grill. The remaining nine holes will be played as Glow Golf beginning around 8 p.m. (417) 718-0233.
June 9-10: Free Fishing Weekend at Bennett Spring State Park. Bring the kids, enjoy the great outdoors.
June 16: Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce presents Our Town, Your Town Festival at Boswell Park. Complete with the Family Game Zone, vendors, plenty of food and drinks for purchase, live entertainment, clowns, balloon artists, and car show. The Our Town, Your Town event finishes with the area’s most fantastic firework display. Best part: free! Starts at 5 p.m. (417) 588-3256.

June 23: 4th Annual Run for Their Lives 5k and 1 mile walk. 8 a,m.-noon, Atchley Park Shelter #2. Run or walk to help save lives, one stride at a time. All proceeds benefit suicide awareness through Pathways Community Health. Choose either a 5K run or a 1-mile memory walk. All participants receive a shirt.
COOL RECIPE FOR SUMMER:
BLACK BEAN & CORN SALAD
- 1 (15 oz.) can black beans, drained
- 1 (10 oz.) can corn, drained 1 tomato, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
- 1/8 cup red onion, chopped 3 tablespoons lemon juice 2 tablespoons olive oil salt & pepper to taste.
Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Refrigerate until ready to serve!
